Surviving the Wild: One Man’s Incredible Tale of Survival Against All Odds

Great White Shark Jumps onto Fisherman’s Boat in Australia

In a bizarre incident that took place in Australia, ABC News reported that the victim was a 73-year-old man named Terry Selwood. A great white shark leaped onto his fishing boat while he was fishing offshore in Evans Head, on the northern coast of New South Wales.

The shark was approximately 2.7 meters long and weighed around 200kg. It leaped onto the boat in a split second and hit the old man’s arm, tearing his skin. The impact was so strong that he fell down onto the deck and couldn’t stand up.

The shark jumped onto the bow of the boat and landed on the deck of the 4.5-meter long and 1.4-meter wide boat.

“I was lying there on the deck, and it (the shark) was lying there too, it looked at me and I looked at it, and then it started thrashing around, shaking the boat, and I couldn’t even move,” Selwood recounted.

Afterwards, the elderly fisherman quickly called for volunteer rescue services. They sent a boat to rescue Selwood first, and then came back to pull the boat with the shark on it.

According to Selwood, the sea was very calm at the time, and there were no fish swimming on the surface. Therefore, he couldn’t imagine that a shark would jump onto his boat.

“I had put some bait on the hook to fish for snapper at the bottom of the sea, but the line was immediately pulled out. I thought it was a big fish, but I didn’t expect it to be a shark,” Selwood said.

The incident shocked local fishermen, and it became a hot topic on social media. Many people expressed their concern about the dangers of fishing in the ocean.

Great white sharks are one of the largest predatory fish in the ocean, and they are known for their aggressive behavior. They are found in many parts of the world, including Australia. While attacks on humans are rare, they can be fatal. Therefore, it is important for fishermen to take appropriate safety measures when fishing in the ocean.

In conclusion, the incident of a great white shark jumping onto a fishing boat in Australia is a rare and extraordinary event. It serves as a reminder of the potential dangers of fishing in the ocean and highlights the importance of taking appropriate safety precautions.
